From the landing on the second floor you step out on the terrace (20 m2), which has been imaginatively "landscaped" with decking, to make the most of the views. From the top level of the decking you have views of the rooftops of the village and surrounding hills, without being overlooked. You'll also be able to inspect the width of the wall of the former ramparts, which were incorporated into the house at a time long ago. On the terrace you have outdoor furniture, a table seating four, a reclining sun bed, sun umbrella and a gas BBQ.

River swimming at Bize

A short walk from the house is the river Cesse, which runs through Bize Minervois and is perfect for a refreshing dip. In the summer the river is dammed up to form a freshwater outdoor swimming pool.

The village of Bize is well supplied with services and shops. A weekly outdoor market takes places on Wednesdays on the tree lined square overlooking the river. In walking distance from the house are several restaurants, a bar, bakery, grocery store and a butcher, as well as a pharmacy, newsagent/tobacconist, post office and a doctor's surgery. You can taste the wine at several local wineries, and a short drive towards Narbonne you will find the Cooperative Oleicole L'Oulibo, a cooperative of olive growers, where you can experience how olives are processed, as well as taste and purchase a very good selection of their excellent oils and table olives.

A little further away, in St Marcel d'Aude you'll find a larger supermarket, and the town of Narbonne is only a 20 minute drive.
