Domaine Campistron is located equidistant between St Laurent de la Cabrerisse, Thezan les Corbieres and Villerouge la Cremade, and surrounded by vineyards. The property is entered through hand-made iron gates and a gentle slope leads to the front door on the first floor. You can park your car here, or behind the gates to the garden. At the top of the slope you reach the terrace at the front of the house, the smaller of the two.

Step into the large open-plan living room, the hub of the house. The size and height of the room is impressive without being overwhelming. The original stone walls have been carefully renovated, and modern double-glazed windows make this room very light. The dining area is equipped with corner banquette, dining table and chairs, seating eight. A two seater sofa and a armchair allow you to relax inside.

   

Large sliding doors lead from the sitting room onto the terrace at the back of the house (approx. 80 square meters), which has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and the hills of the Corbieres in the distance. The terrace is furnished with teak dining table and chairs for six and four sun loungers, as well as sun umbrella and gas BBQ. A utility room accessible from both terraces provides storage space for terrace/garden furniture.

   

From the sitting room an archway leads through to the kitchen, which has retained the original fireplace hood and is fitted with natural wood units and work tops. The kitchen is well equipped with gas cooker, electric oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster and all crockery, glassware and dishes. The kitchen is also equipped with a beautiful hand-made copper sink.

   

Doors from the kitchen lead to the bedrooms. The yellow bedroom is furnished with two single beds, a wardrobe and bedside tables. The pink bedroom is furnished with an antique double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. Both bedrooms have a wash-basin

   

The bathroom is equipped with a hip-bath and a rain shower, and a wash basin. The washing machine can also be found in the bathroom. The WC is separate.

   

From the sitting room a custom made oak staircase leads to the loft. The loft is furnished with two further beds, as well as television corner, with large screen TV (satellite receiver) and sofa.

   

The garden which surrounds the house on two sides consists of a meadow with a row of umbrella pines for shade, and is surrounded by a hedge of cypress trees. Access to the garden is via a gate at road level.

   

The house is equipped with gas fired central heating for comfort during the winter months.

Domaine Campistron is exceptionally well placed for exploring this fascinating area of Southern France. The Corbieres region presents a wide variety of topography as well as interesting sights. The Abbeys of Fontefroide and Lagrasse (both ca 15km from the house) are open to the public. In Villerouge Termenes the old castle, which has connections to the last Cathar "parfait", can be visited. Within a 10 minute drive you can reach the Orbieu river for swimming; the beaches at Gruissan and Port La Nouvelle are a 40 minute drive away. Carcassonne with its impressive Citadel is about 35 minutes away (airport), and the historic town of Narbonne only half an hour. All around the area are beautiful walks and hikes, and vineyards and wineries, which invite you to sample their wines.

For shopping you have a selection of shops and services in St Laurent de la Cabrerisse (grocery store, bank, bakery, bar/cafe) - only three minutes by car. A larger selection of shops can be found in Lezignan Corbieres, 20 minutes away - this town also hosts a wonderfully vibrant outdoor market on Wednesdays throughout the year.
