The door at street level allows access to two apartments only, and just after the front door on the left is a room to store your skis. On the first floor landing is the entrance door to L'Escapada; before climbing the stairs you can leave your shoes in the cupboard behind the door. On the second floor landing you have the WC to your right and the doorway to the left leads into the sitting room. The furniture is modern and stylish and you'll find the apartment decorated with original paintings by a local artist. There is a flat screen television with satellite receiver and DVD player.   
The kitchen is at one end of the living room and is kept in the same modern style as the sitting room, with built in appliances: dishwasher, induction cooker, wall mounted oven, fridge freezer, extractor fan, as well as a microwave oven, electric kettle, coffee maker and clothes washer/dyer. A dining table and chairs are also in the kitchen.    The first of three bedrooms is accessed from the sitting room and is furnished with a double bed (160 x 200cm), night tables and a wardrobe. The second bedroom on this floor is the childen's bedroom, furnished with two bunk beds, wardrobe and shelves. Both bedrooms share the bathroom on this floor, with shower cabin, wash hand basin and electric heater.    From the kitchen stairs lead up to the mezzanine, where you'll find the third bedroom. This bedroom is furnished with two single beds (which can be pushed together), shelves and a wardrobe. This bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with shower cabin and wash hand basin. There are electric heaters throughout.    From the apartment a short walk (up-hill) will take you to the shops, for your daily bread, croissants etc, and also a butcher and grocery store. Restaurants are also in walking distance and there's a variety of different styles of food on offer, from Cassoulet to Asian. More about Font Romeu From L'Escapada the cable car station is only 15 minutes walk or a very short drive away. The cable car takes you to the "Les Airelles" ski area, where you have access to 40 pistes, served by 22 ski lifts. The resort has 500 snow canons, so there will be snow! Apart from downhill skiing, you can also explore on snowshoes, and there are 111km of tracks for nordic skiing. A snow park is specially designed for freestyle skiers on snow boards or skis. Skis and equipment can be rented in Font Romeu, and the town is well supplied with all kinds of shops and services.  During the summer months the mountains surrounding Font Romeu are superb destinations for walkers of all levels. A number of activities such as bicycling and carting are on offer during the summer months; Font Romeu is served by the famous yellow train, which runs from Villefranche near Perpignan to Latour-Carol, across viaducts, suspension bridges, climbing to 1231m altitude.    
Font Romeu is a perfect location for exploring all the area has to offer - summer or winter. Well known for its climate, the town hosts a number of athletes who come specially for high altitude training. Access International airports can be found at Perpignan (90km), Carcassonne (130km), Girona-Barcelona (160km) all in easy driving distance. From Font Romeu railway station regular services connect to Perpignan where you can connect to TGV services. |
