The first thing you'll notice on entering La Grange is the double height open-plan living area - a spectacular space with a light and airy contemporary feel. When La Grange was converted from a winery into a house the original brick vaulted ceiling was preserved, and the barn doors replaced with full height glass doors. Access to the property is down a tree lined drive, which leads to a private parking area. At the front of the house, outside the former barn doors is a well furnished spacious terrace, perfect for al fresco meals. To the side of the house is another terrace (perfect for breakfast), the swimming pool (9 x 4.5mt) and a mediterranean garden.
Inside the house the living room ( 100m²) is divided into three distinct areas. The sitting area is comfortably furnished with three large sofas, grouped around a coffee table and the wood burning stove. French doors lead from here to the terrace at the front of the house. The sitting area is also equipped with a large flat-screen TV with satellite receiver, DVD player, HiFi and I-Pod docking station. The dining area is furnished with a beautiful table, made from solid French oak, and matching chairs seating 10. The fitted kitchen is perfect for entertaining with the five burner gas cooker in an island unit. An American style fridge/freezer, built-in electric oven and microwave oven, dishwasher, small appliances and lots of countertop space make this kitchen a joy to work in.  
   
 
   
 
   The utility room on the ground floor has an additional WC and is equipped with a washing machine, sink, iron and ironing board . The house is double glazed throughout and all windows have shutters.  
The owners live in private adjoining accommodation with their own independent entrance, and are on site to assist where necessary, expect for part of July and most of August. The swimming pool is only for the use of guests staying at La Grange. La Grange is surrounded by its own woodland and garrigue in the hamlet of Le Verdier, between the villages of Cessenon and Cazedarnes. Cessenon is just five minutes by car, or 15 to 20 minutes by foot. La Grange is perfect for getting away from it all and enjoying country living at its best. Fantastic views of the night sky can be had as there is next to no light pollution. Walkers can explore the surrounding countryside to the full. River swimming can be found at Reals, where you can also hire canoes and kayaks. The village of Cessenon has a twice weekly market (Tues & Sat), as well as a good selection of shops (bakery, butcher, newsagent, post office etc), and two restaurants and bars. Just a little further afield is the village of St Chinian, which has a larger supermarket and more restaurants. |
