More about Roquebrun and area
Roquebrun carries the sobriquet 'Le Petit Nice' because of its microclimate. Citrus trees thrive in the village, and each year in February there is a mimosa festival.
In the village are two restaurants and a pizzeria, a bakery, cafe/bar, a grocery store and a tourist office, not forgetting the weekly
outdoor market on Fridays. Wine abounds and the Cooperative winery produces some very good wines, which can be tasted before buying. You can also buy wine at all of the independent wineries in and around the village.

Built against a steep hill, the village presents a beautiful picture as you approach. At the top of the hill, near the ruined tower of the mediaeval castle, a Mediterranean garden has been created over the past decade or so, which is well worth a visit. At the foot of the hill the river gushes over a weir which once supplied a mill with water. Today the mill has been turned into a gallery, and on the opposite bank of the river there is a long pebbly beach which is great for a swim. Also in Roquebrun is a Canoe and Kayak base, where trips of varying lengths are being offered.
A little further afield are the villages of Cessenon sur Orb and Saint Chinian. Both are thriving communities with a selection of shops
and restaurants. Cessenon market takes place on Saturdays and Saint Chinian has a lively market on Thursdays and Sundays.
